The Champion De Arment Tool Company became most famous for their Channellock plier design, described by patent #1,950,362 and arguably one of the most important tool patents of the 20th century. The company later changed its name to Channellock, Inc.
Champion De Arment is actually one of the older American tool makers in continuous operation, with original roots going back to 1886 when its founder, George B. De Arment, operated a blacksmith shop.
