(3 May 1972) STORY
A summit meeting is to be held in New Delhi in May or June 1972, attended by President Bhutto, Indian Premier Mrs. Gandhi, and the Bengali leader Sheikh Mujib. The three leaders are expected to arrive at a peace formula which will lead to the resumption of diplomatic and trade relations between India and Pakistan, the recognition of Bengla Desh by Pakistan, and significant changes in the Kashmir ceasefire line in India's favour. In this report, we interview President Bhutto about the issues at stake in the talks, and on the security of his own position in Pakistan. We also interview Abdul Wali Khan, the leader of the NationalAwami Party, who is leading a provincial indepen dence movement that could lead to yet another fragmentation of Pakistan.
