UP 3027, a very new Tier 4 SD70ACe, leads the last empty coal train from Bailly Generating Station along with 19 miscellaneous freight cars on the head end. Bailly's coal fired units are now officially retired.
The junk freight and coal were both enroute to CN at Gary, IN, so the crew combined the two trains.
The first shot is at the Ogden Dunes, IN station. Second is Virginia St in Gary, IN on the Ex-EJE City Track, now leased from CN by CSS.
Once PTC is fired up, foreign leaders on South Shore will be a thing of the past. NICTD chose a PTC system that is not compatible with anything else in the country, meaning CSS will have to lead every train with their own locomotives even if they have run through power. Times are changing quickly, so shoot 'em while you can!
