Giovanni's wife, an elderly and rather ugly woman, offers him an unlikely deal: that Giovanni will exchange his good eye for her husband's glass eye...

Part of the surreal atmosphere of the film is due to the original music composed and directed by Piero Piccioni. A strange and highly dynamic mix of different musical styles, including jazz and various popular dance grooves of the time, such as samba, twist, calypso and hully gully. A simple yet highly effective compositional technique based on elements that are both serious and funny. The original sequence you are listening to (+ 9 min) is entitled 'Samba Della Ruota'. It was Piccioni's first use of the samba in Alberto Sordi's films. A choice that would soon become a passion and a trademark for the great Italian comic actor.
