Fresh from the white trash jungle I have returned to drop a video I cobbled together of my favorite #bonsai projects so far - The Princess Mononoke Bonsai Forest. This Bonsai includes a figurine of the Deer God of the Forest himself. The centerpiece tree used in this video is a Cryptomeria Japonica aka Japanese Cedar - the evergreen species found in the Yakushima forest which the scenery in the movie is based off if. The other trees I used were Cork Bark Elms due to their wild characteristic, aged crackling bark, and moss hanging from the trunks as well as being at least an Asian species if not specifically Japanese. I also covered the soil surface in a mix of plants including: Dwarf cold-hardy ferns, Brass Button plants, Irish moss, Creeping Thyme, Dwarf geranium, cold-hardy dwarf Sedum, as well as moss and liverwort I found behind the barn at the Horse ranch. I will return with at least two more forest projects based on this movie.
