February 28, 2026. A gorgeous 60 degree day in northeast Pocahontas County West Virginia.
Searching a riverbank for Davonian era fossils. 400 million year old brachiopod and crinoid fossils. Before there were dinosaurs or life on land, the oceans teemed with early life. What are now the Allegheny Mountains in southeastern West Virginia were once at the bottom of an ancient ocean. Now part of the Monongahela National Forest.
At the end of the video we drive up to Lake Buffalo, beautiful even when iced over.
Thanks for watching!!!
