Explorer Falls ~ Monroe (Hiking Trails in Northwest Washington)

Today’s adventure took us to Explorer Falls near Lake Roesiger, north of Monroe, Washington. This trail is on DNR land so most of it is on logging roads. It was 6 miles round-trip and about 1,000 feet elevation gain which included going to the top of the falls.

This is a rather popular hike; we passed about 50 people throughout the day. Several were training with King County Search and Rescue, others included teens and young adults, families with kids and dogs, and even a few like us from the older generation. Everyone was friendly and respectful and we thoroughly enjoyed our ½ day adventure even though most of it was on a boring logging road.
