/ shaghofta.akhtar Statistically speaking its estimated that around 25% of Muslims work as drivers in the UK Taxi industry. The taxi industry is estimated at around £5bn - £8bn. An increasing number of young graduates are turning to the taxi industry as means of survival. My interview with Nasir Mansha from Albatross Cars Derby is due to the fact that they are utilizing the skills of graduates through their social media and offering I.T abased opportunities.During the interview I focus on issues, challenges and the way forward for the Industry. An area which is highly regulated and a livelihood for so many Muslims.
Their Youtube videos have cartoon type ads promoting their company as well as their cars having names such as Hulk and Beast. On their facebook they give fans the choice of naming cars hence reaching out in a very innovative way to passengers.
So far very few taxi companies utilize their social media in this way.
