Lake Achensee is a glacial alpine lake in the Austrian state of Tyrol, known for its crystal-clear, turquoise waters and stunning mountain setting, separating the Karwendel and Rofan mountain ranges.
The largest lake in Tyrol, it's a popular destination for water sports like windsurfing and swimming, as well as hiking and mountain biking in the surrounding peaks.
Its exceptionally clean water, with visibility up to 10 meters, has earned it the nickname "Tyrolean Sea" and a reputation for drinking-water quality.
