Sony TC-366, 377, 399 Reel to Reel Selector not latching

Описание: First thing is you need to take the plate off like when you replace the main long belt and turn over to see the mechanism. I normally push the tape lever up manually and see what is happening with the non latching.

Check that the little sprung lever is loose and the spring is attached both ends (If often pops off and is tricky to refit). This whole area needs degreasing (isopropanol) and then some WD40 does good. 80% of the time this is the problem. There is a screw that adjusts this mechanism and only requires a small turn but don't touch it unless last resort. A clean free lubricated mechanism is the key.

Under the selection control knob is a circular metal plate which has slots (like a bike chain crank) in it. One of these slots has a small plate that moves out the way of the slot when activated. If/when this small plate gets stuck it doesn't move out the way thus the round bar cannot latch into the play slot. Again it needs degreasing and sometimes a little persuasion to free it up. This is also a common problem.

The long thin bar that the tape moves up when tightened is what pushes the small spring lever into latch position. This bar can be slightly bent if its not pushing up enough, but this is a last resort as not normally a problem.
