Israel started on Sunday (25/8) to implement the Israeli government's decision to send 300 mobile homes to settlements in the West Bank. The first of them arrived at the settlement of Ofra near the West Bank city of Ramallah.

Hanan Ashrawi, member of the Palestinian Legislative Council SOT: "This is a direct affront to the peace process. It is great violation, undermining the foundations of peace. These mobile units are not a temporary structure but a preparation for a further expansion for increased settlement activities and as such they violate the posssiblity of a genuine peace in the future";
NABIL SHA'ATH, Minister of Planning in the Palestinian Authority, SOT:
"Settlements are not only a negation of the legal commitments of Israel, of the Geneva Convention, of the American assurances of the agreement itself, they are , I think a negation of the whole peace process.";
