Meet one of the smallest waders in the Solent, the dunlin.
They are typically seen feeding in groups along the shore during low tide.
Their short beaks are a useful tool to scavenge around in mud and sand, which is what you are seeing here. They'll pick up insects, molluscs and worms from the surface with their sewing-needle-like action.
You may see flocks of thousands all roosting together at high tide.
