Love cabbage as much as we do? You have to try these savory cabbage steaks. Super easy to make and bake. See the note below on how to slice the cabbage as this is important to keep the “steaks” in their shape. Please note, depending on the size of the cabbage you might need to make extra garlic paprika oil. The amounts below works for an average size head of cabbage.
Serves: 4
Ingredients
1 head Organic Green Cabbage
¼ cup extra virgin olive oil
2 garlic cloves, minced
½ teaspoon Kosher salt
¼ teaspoon H-E-B Black Pepper Grinder
¾ teaspoon H-E-B Smoked Paprika
Directions
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
In a small bowl combine the olive oil, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and smoked paprika. Stir well to combine and set aside.
How to cut the cabbage:
Use a cutting board to cut the cabbage. Remove any outer leaves if needed and rinse the head of cabbage and pat dry.
Using a chef-style knife, place the head of the cabbage on its side and slice the stem off to make the stem flush with the bottom of the head of the cabbage. Turn the cabbage so the bottom is sitting on the cutting board.
Begin slicing the cabbage from one side into ¾” slices. This will give you large pieces that will hold together making the “steaks”.
Brush or spray the baking sheet with olive oil.
Place the cabbage steaks on the baking sheet and brush the top of each slice of cabbage with the oil mixture.
Place in oven and bake for 30 – 40 minutes or until a fork can be easily inserted into the middle of each of the cabbage steaks.
Can be served immediately or at room temperature.
