Hong Kong Airport Express: Your Fastest Gateway to the City!!
The Airport Express (機場快綫) is a dedicated railway line operated by the MTR Corporation in Hong Kong, providing fast, reliable, and comfortable transportation between the city and Hong Kong International Airport (HKG/VHHH or named HKIA). Launched on Jul.06.1998, the same day the new airport at Chek Lap Kok (赤鱲角機場) began operations, the Airport Express is considered one of the most efficient airport rail links in the world.
The Airport Express is a 35 km dedicated rail link connecting Hong Kong International Airport (Chek Lap Kok) with the city center. It serves 5 stations:
Hong Kong Station (香港站, Central Station 中環站): Located in the heart of the business district, with transfers to the Island Line (港島綫), Tsuen Wan Line (荃灣綫), and Tung Chung Line (東涌綫).
Kowloon Station (九龍站): Near Tsim Sha Tsui (尖沙咀) and Jordan (佐敦), offering transfers to the Tung Chung Line (東涌綫), connected to Austin Station (柯士甸站) on the Tuen Ma Line (屯馬綫), connected to Hong Kong West Kowloon Station (香港西九龍站) on the High Speed Rail (高速鐵路) and free shuttle bus services.
Tsing Yi Station (青衣站): Located in the New Territories (新界) and links to the Tung Chung Line (東涌綫) for passengers.
Airport Station (機場站, Terminals 1 & 2): Direct access to the passenger terminal of Hong Kong International Airport. The trains from city to the airport will stop directly at the departure halls (離港層). The trains from airport to the city will stop directly at the arrival halls (抵港層).
AsiaWorld-Expo Station (博覽館站): Serves the AsiaWorld-Expo event center; not all trains stop here.
The Airport Express uses Adtranz-CAF EMU (Electric Multiple Units), manufactured by Spanish company CAF and German company Adtranz (ABB Daimler-Benz Transportation).
This train is the same as the Tung Chung Line train, the only difference between them is the configuration and number of doors, as well as the interior. (Tung Chung Line has two trains, the other is Rotem EMU / K-Train)
The trains depart every 10 minutes. End-to-end travel takes 24 minutes (Hong Kong Station to Airport), from approximately 5:50 AM to 1:15 AM daily, making it convenient for early-morning and late-night flights.
The Airport Express is renowned for its speed (0% traffic delays!), comfort, and efficiency—making it the top choice for travelers!!
