United States:
The U.S. does not have a universal healthcare system. Coverage is a mixed model that includes employer-sponsored private insurance, government programs like Medicare (for seniors and some disabled individuals) and Medicaid (for low-income populations), ACA marketplaces, and a significant number of uninsured or underinsured people. Coverage is not automatic and often depends on employment, income, age, and state of residence.
China:
China has broad government-led health insurance coverage, but access often requires upfront payment at hospitals, with reimbursement occurring later. Government officials and some public-sector employees typically face minimal out-of-pocket costs, while non-government workers and rural residents often must pay first and cover a portion of costs themselves, even when insured. Regional administration and reimbursement processes can create barriers to timely care.
