Zambia Air Force ZAF has cultivated maize on a 130 hectare piece of land at its Mumbwa base.
ZAF- Commander Lieutenant General OSCAR NYONI says the farm is a strategic initiative to contribute to the agricultural sector and boost the national food basket.
He says this follows President HAKAINDE HICHILEMA's call for intensified food production.
General NYONI says these agricultural activities do not interfere with the force's readiness to perform other national duties, as officers remain strategically deployed across the country.
The ZAF Commander was speaking to ZNBC News when he toured the maize farm at the ZAF base in Mumbwa District.
