Using striped yarn to create unexpected knitted textures

Описание: In this video, I show how I get inspired by striped yarn and use the stripes intentionally to create unexpected textures and designs in my knitting 🧶✨

Instead of letting the stripes do their usual thing, I use the neon pink and neon yellow stripes in a gray sock yarn to form twisted strings that hold a small-ish glass bead, turning color changes into a structural design feature.

The sock yarn is held double stranded with a mohair silk blend, which has subtle colored slubs that add a more organic, tactile texture to the gray base. The contrast between smooth sock yarn, fuzzy mohair, and bright stripes creates a fabric full of depth and movement.

The square I knit here will become Square #3 in my 50 squares in 50 weeks blanket, where I adapt and reinterpret squares from Anna Pantelous’ book “Learn to Knit in 50 Squares.”
