PM Modi takes stock of flood situation from Varanasi authorities, asks to ensure citizens’ wellbeing

Описание: The water level of the Ganga in Varanasi rose to 70.54 metres on Thursday morning, crossing the warning level of 70.262 metres. The latest reading comes amid a flood situation in parts of Varanasi, with the district administration closely monitoring affected areas. In a big update, PM Modi has spoken to the Mayor and Collector of Varanasi and taken stock of the flood related situation in the city. He was briefed on the relief measures being undertaken. PM asked them to ensure that citizens face least possible inconvenience. Meanwhile, officials have inspected the flood-affected areas and reviewed arrangements for people displaced by the rising water levels. During the inspection, the officials interacted with residents and assured them of all possible assistance from the administration. The district administration has stepped up mitigation measures in view of potential rise in water levels of the Ganga and Varuna rivers. It has made comprehensive, multi-layered preparations to ensure public safety and facilitate swift relief and rescue operations in case of a flood situation.
