Xi, Xiomara Castro chart course for China-Honduras ties at historic meeting

Описание: Chinese President Xi Jinping hosted a welcome ceremony for visiting Honduran President Iris Xiomara Castro Sarmiento at the square outside the east gate of the Great Hall of the People in Beijing Monday afternoon.

At the welcome ceremony, the military band played the national anthems of Honduras and China, and a 21-gun salute was fired.

After the welcome ceremony, Xi and Castro held talks on the future development of bilateral relations.

China and Honduras also issued a joint statement after the meeting.

At the invitation of President Xi, President Castro is on a six-day state visit to China through June 14.

It is the first state visit to China by a Honduran president.
