Описание: Mr. J Beaton discusses how Gordon Heights, a small area in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY was settled and founded by Black residents from Harlem, NY during the late 1930's. The Black residents were anxious to leave the New York urban environment and return the rural life of growing their own vegetables and raising animals. At the 14 minute mark, is a discussion highlighting the contributions of my Grandfather, John Beach. The community recognized his contributions by naming Beach Lane in his honor. The clip also contains pictures of John Beach. The area remains a thriving community.
