দেবতাত্মা হিমালয় পৌরাণিক যুগ থেকেই দেবতাদের বাসভূমি বলে চিহ্নিত। হিমালয়ের পথ মানুষের অন্তরের পথ। ধর্ম, আধ্যাত্মিকতা ইত্যাদি বাদ দিলেও এক শ্রেণীর মানুষ এই হিমালয়কে, হিমালয়ের প্রাচীন তাঁর্থ-সরণি, অরণ্য- জলপ্রপাত, নদী-উপত্যকা ইত্যাদিকে দর্শন করার জন্যেই শুধু আকুল আবেগে ছুটে এসেছেন এই দুর্গম-লোকে। পথ ভয়ংকর, পথের প্রতিকূলতা দুঃসহ, আবহাওয়া বিশ্বাসঘাতক-সব জেনে শুনেও দর্শনাকাঙ্খার তীব্রতায় মানুষকে ছুটে আসতে হয়েছে উত্তরের এই পুণ্য-প্রাঙ্গনে তার সমস্ত আকুলতার এখানে সমাপ্তি ঘটেছে, চোখের শিয়রে জমেছে অশেষ ভাল লাগার কাজল।

এইসব ভ্রমণকারী যখন গ্রন্থ রচনায় প্রবৃত্ত হয়েছেন, তখন পৌরাণিক উপাখ্যান, ইতিহাস বা আধ্যাত্মিকতার অনুপ্রবেশ ঘটে নি তাঁদের রচনায়; পক্ষান্তরে, পথের সাধারণ বিবরণ, যাত্রীদের সুখ-দুঃখের কাহিনী, নিজেদের আন্তরিক এবং মাঝে মাঝে হিমালয়ের নয়ন-বিমোহন অলৌকিক সৌন্দর্যরাজির কথা গ্রন্থগুলোতে স্থান করে নিয়েছে।

Prominent novelist and travel writer Prabodhkumar Sanyal was born in 1905. He is one of the writers of 'Kallol' magazine One of the best creations and documents to match the Himalayas with Bengali literature is his writing Devattma Himalaya. He visited many parts of Asia, Europe, America and Russia. His vast experience helped him write travelogues. He has a unique place in Bengali literature as a travel writer. Spent a long time in the remote areas of the Himalayas. In 1932, Kedarnath traveled to Badrinath and later walked around 400 miles from Hrishikesh to the hill town of Ranikhet in 38 days. He wrote about the story of that experience "Mohaprosthaner Pothe". From 1932 to 1936, he traveled to various places near the Himalayas for four long years, his travel experience, the life, culture, society and experience of coming in contact with different people in different provinces of the Himalayas was published by his author 'Devatatma Himalaya'.

The Himalayas have been identified as the abode of the gods since mythological times. The path of the Himalayas is the path of the human heart.
