In this visionary piece from the cycle “GöttwAIg – Wunderkammer(21). Barock digital,” artist Markus Wintersberger invites us into the fractured, floating mindscape of Abbot Gottfried Bessel (1714–1749). This is not history as a static timeline, but as a sequence of imprints, echoes, and systems.

Set against a surreal, violet-hued backdrop—a digital cabinet of curiosities—the video traces Bessel’s journey from theologian to diplomat, and finally to the rebuilder of Göttweig Abbey. We witness a man who viewed law as choreography and diplomacy as "the art of moving borders without moving bodies."

When the abbey burns, the true discipline emerges: the act of reconstruction without falsification. A mesmerizing fusion of Baroque history and contemporary digital aesthetics.
