Afternoon: Union reinforcements arrived, bolstering their position. Major General William T. Sherman played a crucial role in defending the Union right flank.
Evening: The battle was still raging, with both sides suffering heavy casualties. Confederate General Johnston was mortally wounded, and command passed to General P.G.T. Beauregard.

Day 2 (April 7)

Morning: The Union counterattack began. Major General Don Carlos Buell's reinforcements had arrived overnight, giving the Union army a significant advantage.
Afternoon: The Union forces gradually pushed back the Confederates, forcing them to retreat. The Union victory at Shiloh was secured by the end of the day.
