In May of 2025 we visited the UNESCO world heritage site in the Netherlands called Kinderdijk. Since Ava was born 1 month prior this was our first outing with her , with grandpa and great grandpa visiting. This park located in Alblasserwaard polder has 19 monumental windmills.
The oldest windmill also shown in this short video dates back to 1630. Nineteen charming windmills and three pumping stations stand here as part of a larger water management system that prevented floods in the past.
In this video we visited a windmill museum that showed how families used to live in these windmills. We took a boat ride which got us the opportunity to see 5 windmills in a row.
The ticket also included a visual history explanation of the water management system.
