ট্রেনটির বিল্ডারস প্লেটে লেখা আছে ১৯২৭ সালে ব্রিটেনের একটি কারখানায় তৈরি হয়েছে এই সেলুন। সেগুন কাঠের তৈরি এই প্রেসিডেন্ট সেলুনে বিলাসবহুল আসবাব ও ইলেক্ট্রনিক সামগ্রি রয়েছে। এতে ৬টি কামরা রয়েছে। অভিজাত শোবার ঘর ছাড়াও রয়েছে আলাদা সভাকক্ষ। রয়েছে ব্যক্তিগত সহকারীর কক্ষ রান্নাঘর ও প্রহরীদের থাকার কক্ষ।

ব্রিটেনের রানীর ভারতের বিভিন্ন গন্তব্যে ভ্রমণের জন্য সেলুনটি ভারতে আনা হয়। এর নম্বর-১২৬৫। দেশ বিভাগের পর ১৯৪৮ সালে তৎকালীন পূর্ব পাকিস্তান রেলওয়েকে এই সেলুনটি উপহার হিসেবে দিয়ে যায় ব্রিটিশ সরকার।

ইতিহাস থেকে জানা যায়, ব্রিটিশ সাম্রাজ্যের সিংহাসনে সবচেয়ে দীর্ঘ সময় আসীন রানী দ্বিতীয় এলিজাবেথ যিনি সম্প্রতি ৯৬ বছর বয়সে পরলোকগমন করেছেন, তিনিই দুইবার এই ট্রেনে তথা বিশেষ ক্যারেজে ভারতবর্ষ ভ্রমণ করেছেন। এই কক্ষেই তিনি অবস্থান করেছেন, এই বিছানায় ঘুমিয়েছেন। ১৯৬১ সালে পাকিস্তান আমলে ভারতবর্ষ ভ্রমণের সময় ও বিগত শতাব্দীর আশির দশকের শুরুতে বাংলাদেশ ভ্রমণের সময় এই স্যালুনটি ব্যবহার করেছিলেন দ্বিতীয় এলিজাবেথ। ১৯৮৪ সালে সেলুনটি অকেজো হয়ে পড়লে সৈয়দপুর কারখানায় নিয়ে আসা হয়।

দেশ স্বাধীনের পর রাষ্ট্রপতি জিয়াউর রহমান ও রাষ্ট্রপতি হুসেইন মুহম্মদ এরশাদ এই প্রেসিডেন্ট সেলুনে ভ্রমণ করেছেন।

The train's builder's plate says that this saloon was built in a British factory in 1927. The presidential salon is made of teak wood and has luxurious furniture and electronics. It has 6 rooms. In addition to the elite bedroom, there is a separate meeting room. There is a personal assistant's room, a kitchen and a watchman's living room.

The saloon was brought to India for the tours of the Queen of Britain to various destinations in India. Its number is 1265. After the partition of the country in 1948, the British government gave this saloon as a gift to the then East Pakistan Railway.

According to history, Queen Elizabeth II, who has passed away recently at the age of 96, has traveled to India twice in this train and special carriage. He stayed in this room, slept in this bed. This salon was used by Elizabeth II during her visit to India during the Pakistan period in 1961 and Bangladesh in the early eighties of the last century. In 1984, when the saloon became unusable, it was brought to the Syedpur factory.

After independence, President Ziaur Rahman and President Hussain Muhammad Ershad visited this Presidential Salon.
