Hidden Christians of Tokyo - 17th century Japan history

Описание: Tokyo is not typically known for its Christian heritage, but it does have a few fascinating "Kakure Kirishitan" (Hidden Christian) sites that hold a rich connection to Japan’s Christian history. These sites reflect the history of Christian persecution during the 16th to 19th centuries.

In 1587, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, the ruler of Japan, issued edicts to expel the Christian missionaries and priests and stop the propagation of Christianity. It was only in 1638 that the full effect of his laws was carried out.

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

Heavenly Lord,
You granted grace to these holy witnesses of the faith to hold on despite tremendous persecution. Please strengthen my faith so that on Judgement Day, I can enter into heaven with all the saints and angels to praise You forever. Amen.
