I. SINGLE LYING
To her it is not, with her shivering skin, her luscious legs, her sweet snore,
the opening of her pyjamas.
And nor to him, with his chesthair on heath, his able hand,
the range and strength of his dreams, the life below.
May be to both, the chill under cover of the blankets,
closed eyes where in images threaten their fiction,
revolting against the morning, every morning.
Where did their words go?
They did pray for a bed and got sleepy,
and called for silence and heard the echo of their crying.
Who wants to have their hands now?
The night extends stretched out accros them with its lonely breath.
II. PUPPETRY
Strung up high and patched up in the spotlight they dig a voice
from the depth of animation to gamble away what we believe in
and forget what we know.
We are in need of pain to feel better, shadow to see the sun,
whereas they wo put on and take off as clothes
attract all the light with the flourish of a flower.
Watching their languid gestures our finger stop itching.
Inside their nutshell ships we row our trips over.
Following their airy flight we arrive beyond time.
All puppets have eyes save for the blind ones
who returned ahead of fime to dust in which we see willy nilly
what they see likewise: the child that we are and never were.
III. CYCLING, 16
Discharged as dried-up leaf bind to the wind by being lauch out:
death sitting shy on the back; Aah!
And their life yelling loudly with their bags full of forgetting
and their coats even fuller of yet blank body.
Enjoying their raving pestering with pleasure
they keep trying to break down their youth.
Saying like druken sailors over the tramp shipping of the road
over their way towards the time soon to give them a new sound
robbing them of this.
IV. BIRD MIGRATION
At first I did not know what was missing when the swallows sett off
for the southernn sun and I was left behind with corss spiders
for the windows, the summer in my hands.
I added up all those days and came by a counless number.
Please tell me what to distract from this so I can return
to the thime of being empty handed before I knew of missing.
