Seriously, though, for whatever reason this took me a really long time to finally try out even though it seems so obvious, so I figured I couldn't be the only one that would have benefitted from hearing this sooner. If you're struggling to get your lo-fi beats to sound clean and professional, try starting with a reference mix and building from there! You really want to focus on the space every element is occupying, and how many elements there really are. If you listen critically and reverse engineer the logic other producers have successfully used it should be a pretty massive shortcut to figuring out just how to set your lofi beats up for a clean professional mix before you even lay anything down in the DAW.

But remember, don't just copy other people's beats lol
