The first stage production derived from the film musical "Doctor Dolittle," London, 1998. Phillip Schofield had the title role, with Julie Andrews supplying the voice of parrot Polynesia. (Andrews was a long-time friend of Leslie Bricusse, who wrote the book, music and lyrics for the show.) The song "Talk to the Animals" was an Academy Award winner. These were no doubt more carefree times for Schofield; those not in the UK may wish to google to learn of recent headlines concerning the actor/TV host. (The NY Times covered it here:
