At GDC 2023, we demonstrated two full body performers driving realtime, custom characters in Unreal Engine, highlighting the power and flexibility of Vicon’s data capture and streaming capabilities. We were thrilled to offer an up close, in-person look at our industry leading Shōgun package and the new, groundbreaking 26 mega pixel motion capture camera – Valkyrie.
Vicon’s specialist VFX team introduced attendees to Shōgun Post’s native retargeting toolset and workflow for real-time character visualization in game engines. We provide a step by step guide on how to calibrate a live performer, setup a retarget so their movements can be mapped onto a unique game character and then stream all this content directly into Unreal Engine.
