gasota mahadev mandir mein hajaaron saal puraana shivling sthaapit hai. shivling ke baare mein janashruti hai ki pracheen samay mein ek kisaan gasota gaon mein apane khet mein hal chala raha tha.is dauraan hal kisee vastu se takaraaya aur vahaan se paanee dhaara nikalane lagee. isake baad dobaara hal takaraaya to doodh nikala aur teesaree baar takaraane par khoon nikala. khoon dekhate hee kisaan ke aankhon kee raushanee chalee gaee. isake baad bhagavaan shiv ne kisaan ko sapane mein darshan die aur khet mein se shivaling nikaalakar use sthaapit karane ke lie kaha. graameenon ke sahayog se kisaan ise gasota mein shivaling sthaapit kiya aur apane lie abhayadaan maanga jo poora hua.maanyata hai ki agyaatavaas ke dauraan paandavon ne gasota gaanv mein kuchh samay bitaaya tha. is dauraan vah ek gaay paalane lage the. ek baar yahaan sukha pada to gaay tadapane lagee. is par bheem ne gada se bhoomi par prahaar kiya. isase vahaan se jal kee dhaara bahane lagee, jo gasota mahaadev mein sadiyon se bah rahee hai.



The Gasota Mahadev Shiva Temple in Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh has special significance among the people of Hindu religion. This religious place is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Thousands of years old Shivling established here is the focal point of people's faith. Devotees from all over the country reach the Gasota Mahadev temple to worship the Shivling. The history of Gasota Mahadev Shiva Temple is related to the Mahabharata period. It is believed that the Pandavas spent some time here during their exile.

Thousands of years old Shivling is established in Gasota Mahadev temple. There is a legend about Shivling that in ancient times a farmer was plowing his field in Gasota village. During this the plow collided with some object and water started gushing out from there. After this, when the plow collided again, milk came out and on the third collision, blood came out.The farmer lost his eyesight on seeing the blood. After this, Lord Shiva appeared to the farmer in a dream and asked him to remove the Shivling from the field and install it. With the help of the villagers, the farmer installed a Shivling in Gasota and sought abhayadaan for himself, which was fulfilled.
It is believed that the Pandavas spent some time in Gasota village during their exile. During this, he started rearing a cow. Once it was dry here, the cow started suffering.On this Bhima struck the ground with his mace. Due to this, a stream of water started flowing from there, which has been flowing in Gasota Mahadev for centuries.
