The original version was recorded by Carlos Gardel on March 19, for his last film Tango Bar.
Gardel was an expert in equestrian themes, which makes this song have a special value among his followers. .
It is one of Carlos Gardel's classic tangos. His lyrics refer to horse racing and the fanaticism that is created around these competitions and their bets, and also a parallel with relationships with women and life. The expression "for one head" is an expression used in the River Plate equestrian jargon, where the horses that win races very tightly are said to win by one head (or several), used as a reference measure.
