In the realm of business studies, the stages of economic activities are commonly classified into three sectors: the primary sector, the secondary sector, and the tertiary sector.

The primary sector encompasses activities involving the extraction of raw materials from the earth, such as farming, fishing, and the extraction of natural resources like oil. This sector serves as the foundation for the production of raw materials used by businesses.

Moving on, the secondary sector involves the transformation of materials and resources produced by the primary sector into processed goods. This includes activities such as manufacturing, construction, and the assembly of products like computers, aircraft, and cars.

Finally, the tertiary sector revolves around providing services to both consumers and other businesses. This sector plays a crucial role in facilitating the transport, distribution, and sale of goods produced in the secondary sector. It encompasses a wide range of services, including retail, tourism, banking, entertainment, healthcare, and information technology.

The three-sector model, developed in the first half of the 20th century, represents an industrial economy and illustrates the shift of an economy's main focus from the primary sector, through the secondary, and finally to the tertiary sector. It's important to note that the relative importance of these sectors can vary across different countries and regions, reflecting their economic development and structural changes over time.
