Taliban Threatens Ground Strike On Islamabad If Kabul Attacked; Pakistan-Afghan Tensions Escalate

Описание: Tensions between Afghanistan and Pakistan have escalated dangerously, with Taliban Defence Minister Mullah Yaqub warning that any airstrike on Kabul will trigger ground strikes in Islamabad. The Taliban has threatened that suicide bombers from Taliban or Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan will target major Pakistani cities including Islamabad, Lahore and Rawalpindi. Afghanistan has doubled down, stating that insecurity in Kabul means no peace in Islamabad, and is prepared to wage war for a decade if pushed. This follows Pakistan's airstrikes in mid-February targeting Kabul, Kandahar, Nangarhar and Paktika, with Pakistan alleging that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan terrorists operate from Afghan soil. Afghanistan has dismissed these claims, calling them imaginary and blaming Pakistan's internal security failures. Hundreds have died in cross-border clashes in recent months. Pakistan has reached out to Saudi Arabia and Turkey seeking their intervention to de-escalate the crisis.
