Odisha Engineer Arrested After Vigilance Finds Crores in Assets

Описание: An Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE), Baikunthanath Behera, working with the Integrated Tribal Development Agency in Kandhamal district, Odisha, has been arrested in a disproportionate assets case. Vigilance officials conducted raids at multiple locations linked to the officer and his family, uncovering substantial assets. Authorities reportedly found more than ₹2 crore in cash, 341 grams of gold ornaments, bank deposits worth ₹45 lakh, and several investment documents. Investigators also identified multiple properties, including five multi-storey buildings and 14 premium plots. Officials stated that Behera joined government service 26 years ago as a junior engineer with a salary of ₹6,000 per month and is now alleged to have accumulated assets worth several crores beyond known sources of income.
