Описание: I've been to Ayala Malls Circuit, but not inside Samsung Performing Arts Theater. This was my first time inside the theater. We watched Alice Reyes' Carmina Burana last June 14, 2024 (Friday). The show is a ballet with orchestra and choir. I really enjoyed the show, the 2nd half after the break was my favorite.

In the past, I have watched some musicals like CATS, The Phantom of the Opera, The Sound of Music and Miss Saigon. I have never watched ballet before, so this is actually my first time watching one.

Alice Reyes’ CARMINA BURANA is one of the company’s most iconic pieces. Inspired by the goliardic verses set to Carl Orff’s majestic score, Reyes tells the story of a community experiencing the joys of life, drinking, and love, through exuberant, erotic, and pagan movements smoothly transitioning to spiritual, sublime, and somewhat divine climax as the iconic first notes of O Fortuna are reprised.

Vividly enhanced by National Artist for Theater Design, Salvador Bernal’s sets, and costumes, the stage is adorned with rock formations on both sides with refracted crystal-like formations that emulate stained glass windows with a central cauldron that billows with smoke and fire. In the same light, Bernal had the dancers transform from their dark tights, skull caps, and white capelets for the ritual scene to emerald tights and long skirts for the spring dances and full white, floor-length, circular capes, creating a lasting vision of bodies bursting with energy, moving through space with white fabric in their trails.
