In this episode we visit Anchorage Hut in the Abel Tasman National Park.
Anchorage Hut is the newest hut on the Abel Tasman Coastal Track and was built in 2014.
It is either the first or last hut on this Great Walk depending on which direction you walk the track. It is superbly located next to one of the finest beaches in a park of awesome beaches. It was thoughtfully considered with smaller 8 bunk mini bunkrooms, a spacious living area and plenty of deck and grassed areas so people can sit outside.
Here in New Zealand we have a network of government owned backcountry huts which are available to use for a nominal charge. I will be visiting a number of these huts and giving you an overview of their location, amenities and other relevant information.
