Описание: Though Scottish Islands are well known for their beautiful beaches, Isle of Skye is slightly lacking in that area. Most famous beaches of this island are Coral Beach, Camasunary and Talisker. All of them are interesting thanks to type of sand and amazing views, but they wouldn't be considered as 'beautiful' in the same way as other beaches of Hebrides or North-west of Scotland. There is one beach on Isle of Skye though, slightly more difficult to reach, but sharing many features of 'paradise' beach - silvery white sand, blue, clear water and interesting rock formations - it is called Camas Daraich Beach or Rubha Shlèite (which means Sandy Beach). Sadly, weather was slightly disappointing during our visit, but it was still amazing, paradise-like beach.
It is located on Sleat Peninsula, southern part of the island, not far from Mallaig-Armadale ferry crossing. Aside of the beach, Sleat Peninsula contains another point (literally) of interest. Point of Sleat is the southernmost location of the island. It is marked by small, solar powered, automatic lighthouse and offers amazing view to mainland beaches located between Mallaig and Arisaig and to neighboring islands Eigg and Rum. It is idyllic place with amazing, wave-sculptured rock formations, green pastures and sheep (obviously).
Small car park is located in Aird of Sleat. It is accessible via one-lane road from Armadale. Walk to the beach takes around 50 minutes and another 30 minutes to Point of Sleat (around 3 miles from car park to Point of Sleat).
