Are covert narcissists and dismissive avoidants the same thing?
Both covert narcissists and people with a dismissive avoidant (DA) attachment style have similarities and differences. This videos cover what those similarities and differences are.

Dismissive Avoidant Attachment is a type of insecure attachment style (along with preoccupied anxious attachment and fearful avoidant attachment). How covert narcissists and dismissive avoidants are similar:
1) Both tend to be more introverted
2) Both tend to "stonewall" their partners
3) Abusive behaviors, such as verbal abuse can occur in both of these relationship dynamics.
How covert narcissists and dismissive avoidants are different:
1)Approach to vulnerability
2) Need for attention is more prominent in covert narcissists
3) The need to feel important is more prominent in covert narcissists
4) psychological manipulation is typically much more extreme in narcissistic personalities.
It is possible that someone can be both a narcissist and have a dismissive avoidant attachment style. These are separate concepts but they can exist in the same person.
