Emergency crews have transitioned from a rescue to a recovery operation at the Potomac River near the 14th Street Bridge.
Authorities confirmed that a person was spotted on the ice mid-span, just north of the bridge.
Firefighters are preparing to cross the ice from Ohio Drive to reach the person. Further updates will be provided as the situation develops.
