Kenya has released a Class R work permit for the East African Community, waiving fees that range from $2,000 to $4,000. This makes it easier for people from East African Community countries to work in Kenya. While visa requirements were already simplified, this new permit makes the process even easier.
This new permit benefits citizens of East African Community member states and surrounding states by reducing the cost and complexity of obtaining a work permit in Kenya. However, applicants will still need to meet certain requirements, such as proving employment and meeting residency rules.
This move supports Kenya’s efforts to promote regional job mobility and economic growth, similar to initiatives by ECOWAS in West Africa.
