Employees of the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) have filed a complaint at the Prime Minister’s Office against Director General Pradip Adhikari and other senior officials, accusing them of embezzling billions of rupees.
They claim over NPR 18 billion was misused in the construction of Pokhara International Airport alone, despite a parliamentary committee’s earlier directive to suspend Adhikari and launch an investigation. The complaint further alleges mismanagement in Gautam Buddha International Airport, where NPR 45 billion was spent with little impact, and widespread corruption in Nijgadh and other airport projects.
Senior officials are also accused of lavish foreign trips, misusing state funds for family benefits, and irregularities in visa and passport management. The employees and protesters warned that without decisive government action, Nepal’s aviation sector will plunge into deeper crisis.
