Описание: External HDD Overheating Not Recognized Fix Custom Cooling.
The Western Digital Elements 18 TB external hard disk drive was overheating reaching temperatures or 53 to 54 degrees Celsius while idling not doing anything.
The external HDD was sitting on the floor in a dusty corner so I cleaned it with a can of compressed air but still the temperature was reaching above 50 degrees only sitting idle.

I decided to add the custom cooling solution using a PC fan converted to a USB fan and modify the BIOS power settings to turn off usb peripherals when the computer is shutdown.

The fan was off when the computer is shut down and on when the computer starts.
