Описание: Tour Scotland very short windy 4K Winter travel video clip of a Scotsman wearing a kilt and and Sporran and walking by Beinn na Caillich mountain Cairn on ancestry, genealogy, history visit and trip near Broadford, Island of Skye, Britain, United Kingdom. Gaelic for " Hill of the Old Woman " it is a prominent peak in the Red Hills on the Isle of Skye, and is home to one of Scotland's most legendary archaeological features. This massive stone cairn serves as both a physical landmark and a central point for local folklore. While famously tied to later legends, the monument is likely a Bronze Age funerary cairn. The cairn is a substantial pile of granite boulders. While the base is ancient, the upper " cone " of stones is believed to be a later addition by hikers and visitors. The most enduring story associated with the cairn is that of Saucy Mary, a 10th century Norwegian princess, married to a Mackinnon chief, who requested to be buried atop the mountain so she could " face the land of her birth " and feel the winds blowing from Norway forever. The mountain's name refers to the Cailleach, a divine hag or creator deity in Gaelic mythology associated with winter and the creation of the landscape. Another version claims the cairn is the resting place of Grainnhe, the wife of the mythical hero Fionn mac Cumhaill, or Fingal. Legend says she was buried with a crock of gold and jewels provided by the warrior giant clan, the Fiennes.
