Some of these cameras also connect back to foreign servers, quietly sending data off your network — and you might not even know it’s happening.
And here’s something most people don’t realize: a compromised camera isn’t just a risk to you. It can be hijacked and used to launch attacks on other companies. That’s what happened with the Mirai botnet — thousands of insecure cameras were used to flood websites and networks across the world.
Here’s what to do:
Never trust factory default settings
Put cameras on a separate zone with no internet access unless required
