Panama Fan Co (Family Handyman) Gear-Driven 52" Ceiling Fan

Описание: Overview and test of a very cheap and very rare gear driven fan.

This ceiling fan was made by Creative Marketing (aka Sheldon Marketing or Sheldon Gifts) and branded 'Panama Fan Company', sold through the Family Handyman magazine in the early 1980's, approximately 1982-83. These fans are notoriously one of the worst fans ever manufactured being made almost entirely out of plastic, the motor housing advertised as brass is actually a yellow plastic. Adding to the cheapness it's powered by a tiny, noisy gear driven motor and flywheel assembly. The company itself was quite sketchy and had issues shipping fans out in time, and customers upon receiving their fans would discover just how abysmal the quality was which led to these fans not being made for very long. Ironically, the advertisement states the fan is "a stunning reproduction of the $360 Top-Of-The-Line American classic". Overall these are basically a novelty among fan collectors these days and fairly rare being that most customers that originally bought them likely did not keep them for long based on how noisy they are. Despite being laughable in quality it is still a really neat collector's piece, and I have to say the airflow is somehow not terrible.
