In this video, we'll be covering VOR radials and interceptions in a Cessna 172. I'll share some tips on tracking a radial and show you the difference between outbound radial tracking and inbound radial tracking. Similarly, we'll cover a common mistake that many students make, so that you don't make the same one!!

VORs, Interceptions, Radials Explained: • VORs and Radial Interceptions Explained
Steps to track a VOR Radial:
1. Fly parallel to the course / heading to/from the VOR.
2. Set the desired radial on the CDI with PROPER FLAG (To/From) indication.
3. Note the CDI deflection, whether the needle is towards the left/right.
4. Based on the deflection, fly an intercept angle towards the radial. This should be ±45° in most cases, however for quicker intercepting you can fly an intercept angle upto 90°
5. Once radial is intercepted, fly and track the radial inbound/outbound.
1 dot in the CDI represents 2 degrees deviation** I mistakenly mentioned 1 dot = 1 degree in the video, apologies for that
