Nagaland MP S. Supongmeren Jamir has urged Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to notify indigenous tribal dialects as a “third language” in Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) recruitment. He highlighted that the current system, based only on English and Hindi marks, disadvantages local youth and leads to non-local selections. Citing Arunachal Pradesh’s example, where 23 tribal dialects are recognized by the Postal Department, Jamir called for similar measures in Nagaland to promote linguistic inclusivity and fair job opportunities.
