Why Did We Stop Going Back to Venus?

Описание: Venus is the brightest betrayal in the night sky.
It looks calm. Almost gentle.
But it is the one planet that repeatedly proved something uncomfortable:
the universe does not reward the “closest” target. It rewards the survivable one.

For a brief window, we didn’t treat Venus like a monster.
We treated it like a destination.
Then we learned what it really is, and the attention moved elsewhere.

Here’s the part most people don’t realize.
The United States has not flown a dedicated NASA spacecraft to Venus in more than 30 years.
And the last time NASA put a probe into orbit around Venus, the year was 1989.

That doesn’t mean Venus stopped mattering.
It means Venus stopped fitting the way we like to explore.

Because Venus is the planet that punishes shortcuts.
It punishes optimism.
It punishes hardware.

So the question isn’t, “Why didn’t we go?”
We did.
The real question is why we didn’t stay.
Why we didn’t return at the same pace we returned to Mars
