Visitors of Vancouver can do so much more than seeing the steam clock in Gastown. Whether you’re just passing through on your way to a cruise ship or spending a few days in the city, one or more of these attractions can be worked into your itinerary. Scroll down in the description for more details about the sites on our must-do list.
English Bay Beach: Urban public park, free, always open, swimming permitted, fishing is prohibited. The neighborhood around the beach has cool public art, multi-cultural restaurants, and nightlife.
Sylvia Hotel: Historic building with spacious guest rooms that run slightly cheaper than chain hotels. Great restaurant and bar overlooking English Bay Beach.
Stanley Park: Sprawling urban public park. Free to enter and explore, however attractions within the park such as the Aquarium and the Second Beach Pool have entrance fees. Extensive bike paths on the Seawall. Several bike rental shops on Denman and W. Georgia Streets.
Capilano Suspension Bridge Park: Privately maintained forested park in the middle of mountainside suburbs.

Free shuttle leaves sporadically, servicing Capilano Suspension Bridge Park, Canada Place (cruise terminal), Hyatt Regency, and Blue Horizon Hotel. You don’t need to be a hotel guest to use the shuttle.
Vancouver public bus: Runs frequently
Fares range from $2.15-$6.35 depending on where you’re traveling to and if you’re paying cash vs tap-to-pay
University of British Columbia, Vancouver: Campus grounds are generally open to the public.
Rose Garden at UBC: Free
Botanical Garden at UBC: Admission fee varies by season and time of year, and ranges depending on age.
Wreck Beach: legally recognized clothing-optional public beach at the edge of UBC’s campus. A well-maintained woodland path leads down to the shoreline. Free.
Museum of Anthropology at UBC:
Open 10-5 daily, closed on Mondays from Oct. 15-May 15, open until 9 on Thursdays.
Admission ranges from $10-$25 depending on age. Thursdays are half price after 5pm. Free for kids 5 and under, Indigenous people, UBC students/staff/faculty.
